1. SAUTERNES 1855, THE GOLDEN WINES

This day is devoted to discovering the beautiful Sauternes region and its wine. Two rivers, the Garonne and the Ciron, are responsible for a unique microclimate conducive to the development of “botrytis cinerea” and the prestigious sweet white wines of Sauternes and Barsac, which were classified in 1855. The tour begins at Château de Malle, an impressive 17th century estate with astonishing Italian-style gardens. Then Château Guiraud welcomes you for a lunch at which matching Sauternes and food will be illustrated. Finally the secrets of the wine making of fine sweet white wines will be revealed to you in Château Sigalas-Rabaud.
Full-day guided coach tour leaving from Bordeaux (French and English).
Program: 9.15 am: departure from the Bordeaux Tourist Office. 6.00 pm: back to Bordeaux.

3. BORDEAUX AND SAINT-EMILION: UNESCO GREAT GROWTHS

The Bordeaux and Saint-Emilion Tourist Offices have joined forces to offer visitors the opportunity of spending a day exploring these two outstanding UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Bordeaux tour travels across the city’s in an open-air bus, enabling visitors to discover beautiful 18th century buildings. The Saint-Emilion tour includes vineyards, of course, but also amazing underground monuments and the medieval town’s beautiful architecture. A visit to a family-owned wine château in the Saint-Emilion appellation, followed by a tasting and relaxed lunch with the owner, is also planned.
Full-day guided coach tour leaving from Bordeaux (French and English).
Program: 9.30 am: departure from the Bordeaux Tourist Office and city tour by coach. 11.00 am: departure for Saint-Emilion. 11.45 am: tour of a wine château followed by a buffet lunch with the owner. 2.45 pm: guided coach tour of the Saint-Emilion vineyards and walking tour of the medieval town. 6.00 pm: departure for Bordeaux. 6.45 pm: back to Bordeaux.

CRUISE AND GREAT WINES ON THE GIRONDE ESTUARY

Saturdays - 26th June, 2010 Estuary, islands, lighthouse and fine wines: a cruise that you will never forget !
Program: 9.00 am: departure from Bordeaux for a guided cruise trip on the Sorellina boat. Tasting of 3 different Bordeaux wines. 12.30 pm: buffet lunch on the Patiras island and guided visit of the lighthouse. 4.00 pm: boat transfer to Pauillac. 5.00 pm: guided visit and tasting at Château Lynch-Bages (Grand Cru Classé in 1855). 7.30 pm: return journey by coach.

5. THE MEDOCAINES WORKSHOPS

Four women winegrowers* in the Médoc have combined their usual duties of viticulture and winemaking with welcoming visitors to their estate. Pioneers in wine tourism and gifted in the art of communication, these women have been initiating wine lovers into vineyard and cellar techniques (including the assemblage, or final blend) for the past several years. Participating in their activities is an ideal opportunity to discover the main Bordeaux grape varieties and make your very own blend in a warm, friendly atmosphere. In honour of the Bordeaux Wine Festival, the Médocaines* are offering tours, tasting and workshops on the art of blending as well as matching wine and cheese. This is the perfect occasion on which to visit their four estates.
*Martine Cazeneuve (Château Paloumey), Armelle Falcy (Château du Taillan), Marie-Laure Lurton (Château La Tour de Bessan), and Florence Lafragette (Château Loudenne).

The "Best Of Wine Tourism" competition recognises the most efficient and innovative estates in terms of welcoming the public, which is what makes these visits so worthwhile.
The Bordeaux Wine Festival has decided to honour some of these prize-winning estates by organising "Best Of Wine Tourism, Left Bank" and "Best Of Wine Tourism, Right Bank" tours.

6. BORDEAUX, SAINT-EMILION, POMEROL (Best Of Wine Tourism right bank)

This itinerary will take visitors through the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations and include stops at Planet Bordeaux, an exhibition and learning experience that is also quite fun (and which received an award in the "Discovery and innovation " category) before visiting Château Guibot la Fourvieille, a family-owned estate in Puisseguin Saint-Emilion with sustainable agriculture certification, which received an award in the "Environmentallly-friendly" category. The third stop is Château de Sales, the largest estate in Pomerol, which won the Best Of award in the "Architecture, Parks and Gardens" category in 2010 for their outstandingly beautiful 17th century château and grounds.

MEDOC WINE LOVERS (Best Of Wine Tourism left bank)

This day out in the wine country enables visitors to discover a different and very enjoyable way of looking at the Médoc while learning more about wine. Are you a gourmet? Trendy? An explorer? At the Winery, after a tasting of 6 very different wines, you will discover your wine profile and learn your Oenological Sign. Then with the Listrac Quartet*, you will discover ampelography (the science of the vine and grape varieties) and in a second workshop, be introduced to the secrets of blending Bordeaux.wines.
Sunday 27 June : 9h45: departure from Bordeaux 10h45: arrival the Winery with a quick tour of the site 11h00: tasting and determination of your Oenological Sign 12h30: dinner at the Wy restaurant (bistrot menu) 14:00: departure for Château Fonréaud 14h30: tour followed by ampelography and blending workshops – Tasting of wines from the Listrac Quartet*. 17h30: return to Bordeaux.
