You will explore the defensive system designed by Vauban to protect the city of Bordeaux: from the Fort-Médoc countryside on the left bank of the Gironde Estuary, to the city of Blaye on the opposite side. The Bordeaux and Saint-Emilion Tourist Offices have joined forces to offer visitors the opportunity of spending a day exploring these two outstanding UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Bordeaux tour travels across the city’s 1,810 hectares in an open-air bus, enabling visitors to discover beautiful 18th century buildings, 347 historic monuments, and a 150-hectare listed area. The Saint-Emilion tour includes vineyards, of course, but also amazing underground monuments and the medieval town’s beautiful architecture. A visit to a family-owned wine château in the Saint-Emilion appellation, followed by a tasting and relaxed lunch with the owner, is also planned.
