A full day exploring the splendid terroir of Pessac-Leognan, historical birthplace of the Bordeaux vineyard. The prestigious Grands Crus Classés in 1953* have the pleasure to invite you to taste their red and white wines with lunch at the Château followed by tour of Château de La Brède owned by the famous philosopher and winegrower Montesquieu.

2. ART & WINE – ITINERARY FOR MEDOC LOVERS

Three Médoc Châteaux as well as the Maison du Tourisme et du Vin de Pauillac, offer the possibility to discover their estate, taste their wines, and enjoy art exhibitions: the garden of contemporary sculpture at Arsac, the works of the german artist Konrad Klapheck at Lynch-Bages, the collection of glasses at Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande and an exhibition of pictures by Laura Pargade at the Pauillac Tourist Office. Lunch at Café Lavinal.

3. BLAYE AND CUSSAC, THE VAUBAN FORTRESSES

You will explore the defensive system designed by Vauban to protect the city of Bordeaux: from the Fort-Médoc countryside on the left bank of the Gironde Estuary, to the city of Blaye on the opposite side. The tour will include the underground passages of the fortress and the narrow streets linking the major monuments. You will learn the secrets of military architecture, but also those of wine tasting with the wines of Haut-Médoc and Blaye - Côtes de Bordeaux.

Program: 9.30 am: departure from the Bordeaux Tourist Office. 10.30 am: visit of Fort-Médoc and wine tasting followed by a ferry trip on the Gironde estuary. 1.00 pm: lunch in « La Citadelle » restaurant. 2.45pm: visit of the Fortress of Blaye. 4.15pm: visit and tasting in a wine estate. 6.30 pm: back to Bordeaux.

4. BORDEAUX AND SAINT-EMILION: UNESCO GREAT GROWTHS

The Bordeaux and Saint-Emilion Tourist Offices have joined forces to offer visitors the opportunity of spending a day exploring these two outstanding UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Bordeaux tour travels across the city’s 1,810 hectares in an open-air bus, enabling visitors to discover beautiful 18th century buildings, 347 historic monuments, and a 150-hectare listed area. The Saint-Emilion tour includes vineyards, of course, but also amazing underground monuments and the medieval town’s beautiful architecture. A visit to a family-owned wine château in the Saint-Emilion appellation, followed by a tasting and relaxed lunch with the owner, is also planned.

5. A GOURMET TRAIL IN MARGAUX

An exclusive and at the same time a convivial tour in four “great growths” located in Margaux, to taste and enjoy the wines and culinary delights of one of the most famous appellations of the Médoc. Château Prieuré-Lichine : history of the Margaux appellation and the 1885 classification. Château Rauzan-Gassies: Margaux, a unique terroir. Gourmet lunch at the restaurant “Le Savoie”.. Château La Tour de Bessan: grape varieties and the art of blending. Château Kirwan: wine-making & wine trade, a family affair.
